West Shore Free Church in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking an Adult Discipleship Pastor for a unique and high-impact leadership opportunity. This role is ideal for a leader who is passionate about developing people and building pathways for spiritual growth. As a key member of the Lead Team, this pastor will help shape the vision and direction of the church while also contributing regularly to the teaching team. It’s a strategic role for someone who thrives at the intersection of leadership and discipleship, one who is eager to help people take meaningful steps toward maturity in Christ.

The Big Idea

With more than 2,200 adults and 650 children gathering weekly, West Shore Free has grown into one of the region’s most vibrant congregations without losing what makes a church feel like home. Strong biblical teaching and authentic contemporary worship form the heartbeat of Sunday gatherings, while a deep, staff-wide commitment to discipleship shapes everything that happens throughout the week, because here, discipleship isn’t a program you attend; it’s a culture you inhabit. Grounded in the evangelical orthodoxy of the Evangelical Free Church of America, the church holds firmly to the authority of Scripture, the sufficiency of Christ, and the centrality of the gospel, while leaning into a Reformed theological framework and a complementarian vision of men and women thriving together in ministry. Overseen by elders and led by staff, West Shore operates with a clarity of structure that frees rather than constrains. The team is eager to welcome their next Adult Discipleship Pastor into something genuinely good.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate is, first and foremost, someone whose ministry flows from a spiritually rich and authentic walk with Jesus. This pastor is a skilled expository preacher, capable of opening Scripture with clarity, depth, and practical relevance in ways that move people toward genuine transformation. Strategically minded, he will bring the ability to see the whole landscape of adult ministry, identifying gaps, setting vision, and building systems that move people intentionally from the margins of church life into the heart of discipleship. This pastor is committed to building deep relational bonds, understanding trust is the currency of lasting ministry influence. This incoming leader will be organizationally adept and able to manage complexity, lead structures, and steward resources well. At his core, he is a developer of leaders, more energized by raising others up than by doing ministry by himself. Collaborative by nature, this pastor is someone who thrives in a team environment, shares credit freely, and brings out the best in people.
