The Big Idea
For more than a century, Community Christian Fellowship (CCF) has been a gospel-centered presence in Carlisle, growing from its beginnings as the Full Gospel Tabernacle in 1923 into a healthy, multi-generational, non-denominational congregation. This congregation is on the move. In the last four years, the number of children involved in the ministry has doubled, worship attendance has grown by over 30 percent, financial giving is growing, and its next Senior Pastor will step into an exciting season. While unaffiliated, CCF’s theology is similar to the Southern Baptist tradition, but they appreciate the gifts that come with being unaffiliated. CCF is dedicated to lifting up the Word of God and orienting everything else to it. Family ministries, missions, and disciple-making (both through small groups and a vibrant Sunday School program) are high priorities. Pastor Glen Osborn has served CCF as Senior Pastor since 2000 and has thoughtfully prepared this congregation for his retirement. The next Senior Pastor will inherit a strong foundation and an eager congregation, with the opportunity to cast fresh vision, deepen discipleship, develop and empower leaders, strengthen local outreach, and position CCF for growing Kingdom impact in Carlisle and beyond.
The Candidate
CCF’s next Senior Pastor will be a gifted leader who is spiritually grounded, a relational shepherd who loves people, faithfully preaches God’s Word, and is energized by helping others grow into mature disciples. He will bring warmth, humility, authenticity, and an approachable spirit—someone who learns names and stories, invests naturally across generations, and builds the trust to lead meaningful and lasting change. He will be a thoughtful, collaborative visionary and team builder who enjoys working with an engaged group of elders and lay leaders. The right leader will bring clarity and healthy structure, develop and empower others, and translate a compelling vision into effective ministry without losing the relational heart that makes CCF distinctive. With a missional mindset and an eye for possibility, he will honor the faithful foundation already established while inspiring and equipping this willing congregation.
The Location
Carlisle offers an appealing combination of affordability, small-town character, regional growth, and quality of life, making it an attractive place to put down roots. Carlisle’s population is 20,000, but the surrounding Cumberland County region is home to nearly 280,000 people and has grown approximately 17 percent since 2010. The economy is growing in this region, and Carlisle benefits from institutions such as Dickinson College and the U.S. Army War College. Outdoor recreation offers 46 miles of the Appalachian Trail, and numerous state forests and trails nearby. Carlisle is only 20 minutes from Harrisburg, the state capital of Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. are just a two-hour drive away.
