Assessments play a vital role in the growth and effectiveness of pastors, teams and churches.

They empower the cultivation of a culture that values continuous improvement, maximizes the strengths of individuals and communities, and fulfills the mission to glorify God and serve others.

Personal

Personal assessments help pastors and leaders develop self-awareness of their strengths, weaknesses, and areas for growth in their own spiritual journey. This self-awareness can lead to personal development, deeper commitment and more impactful service within their family, ministry, church and community.

Teams

Team assessments facilitate understanding of each team member’s unique talents, perspectives and contributions. By leveraging these insights, teams can collaborate more effectively, capitalize on collective strengths, and address any gaps or conflicts that may arise.

Church

Church assessments provide leaders with valuable data to understand the overall health, effectiveness and alignment of the church’s people, mission, vision and strategies. This enables informed decision-making, strategic planning and targeted interventions to foster growth, address challenges and ensure the church remains faithful to its purpose and mission.

Church Health Assessment

Your church health has never been more important. Our Church Health Assessment is affordable and easy to engage with your congregation. It can be customized to your unique needs and priorities, and will accurately reveal valuable insights into your church health and culture. This unique blend of evidence and relationship ensures your people feel heard and valued, while leaders gain meaningful data that can be used and applied to make informed decisions. The result is more than a roadmap; it’s a customized framework to help you apply your church’s strengths, potential and strategic vision.

Church Assessment Tool (CAT)

The church health assessment we offer is called the Church Assessment Tool (CAT), owned by our strategic partner, HC!C. It is an 85-question, online assessment completed by the church’s members and regular attenders. It offers statistically valid and reliable data that is benchmarked against 2,800 other churches who have also taken the assessment. There are multiple supplemental modules available to ensure you gain the insight you desire. It has a track record of more than 30 years and can be customized to the important decisions your church needs to make. This includes:

• strategic planning

• succession planning

• pastoral search

• organizational development and staffing

• change management

• church merger or multi-site assessment

• stewardship or capital campaigns

• helping a new pastor understand where to start

• measure progress or listen to congregants

The CAT takes two weeks to complete and the result is a 28+ page church health report called Vital Signs that provides key insights into the vitality, priorities and culture of your congregation. This report is debriefed with your church leadership (typically board, staff and search team, if in pastoral search) in a two-and-a-half hour interpretive debrief offered via Zoom.

Pastor & Team Assessments

We offer individual and team assessment packages using the following instruments. We have an experienced team of assessment specialists and coaches who help pastors and teams understand their strengths and effectively deploy their God-given talents.

Ministry Insights

Ministry Insights results in a comprehensive, personalized and detailed 20-page report called Leading From Your Strengths (LFYS) Profile. This report is based on the DiSC personality assessment. It describes an individual’s personality preference in the areas of problem-solving, processing information, managing change and facing risk. It also reveals their natural pace, place of leadership and orientation toward people and tasks.

CliftonStrengths

CliftonStrengths is a behavioral assessment that categorizes responses about thoughts, feelings and behaviors into 34 unique themes. These themes fall into four domains of strengths: Executing, Influencing, Relationship Building and Strategic Thinking. The individual’s top five strengths are the focus of this assessment’s results.

Enneagram

Enneagram refers to the nine different styles that resonate with the way people think, feel and act in relation to the world, others and themselves. It offers insights into core motivations, core personality traits, defense mechanisms and fears that are layered into our personality structure. While it is not useful in candidate selection, it is a great instrument from which to launch personal or team-based coaching.

EQ-i 2.0

EQ-i 2.0 is a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s social and emotional functioning. Emotional intelligence (EI) is the unique repertoire of emotional skills that a person uses to navigate the everyday challenges of life. The EQ-i 2.0 assessment provides a lens into the areas of social and emotional interactions including Self-Perception, Self-Expression, Interpersonal, Decision-Making and Stress-Management.

Assessment Process Options

Level One

This includes conducting a Church Health Assessment, Team Assessment or Personal Assessment, followed by a personal debrief with a member of the NL Moore & Associates team.

Level Two

This option offers a higher level of diagnostic consulting for churches or teams. We combine the online congregational survey or team assessment process with on-site consulting for interviews and focus groups with your people. This important interaction allows us to synthesize the quantitative insights gathered through the initial assessment with the qualitative story as reflected through our experience of your people. The result is a Findings and Recommendations Report which contains clarity on what we discovered, recommended actions, and productive next steps toward a more transformational future.

“The results, communication and guidance are second to none. The process happens with little interruption to ongoing ministries. Nancy and team are very detailed and took the time to learn the needs, the history and personality of our church and congregation. They guided us through the steps we needed to discover/uncover items in our organization – with the goal of helping us move from good to great.”
