Ovid Community Church in Anderson, IN (OCC) is in a season of transition. After more than 20 years of faithful ministry, Senior Pastor Keith Wooden is retiring. His departure creates a wonderful opportunity for a new pastor to prayerfully love and lead a healthy church toward a vibrant, meaningful future.

OCC embodies what it means to be a “community” church. Not only is it multi-generational, but it also draws people from a diversity of backgrounds. The church exudes a warm “family feel” where people love God, care about one another and seek to live out their faith. Missions and missional outreach are long-standing values, so the incoming Senior Pastor will have an opportunity to shepherd and grow a loving congregation, but also encourage and challenge them to put their faith into action. Communities in the region are growing, so the incoming Senior Pastor will have opportunities to equip staff and mobilize congregants so OCC’s unique voice/offerings (relationships, programs, and events) stand out and people continue to experience it as a place where “No matter who you are, where you’ve been, or what you’ve done; because of what Christ has done, you are welcome here.”

Ovid Community Church is ready to receive a Senior Pastor who leads from an overflow of their personal walk with God and is described as spiritually discerning, prayerful, creative, and forward-thinking. The ideal candidate will champion the vision God has given and continually encourage people to find their place in it. Given the consensus-driven governance model, the ideal
candidate will collaborate well with others to set a vision and create the right strategic ministry plans that bring the vision to life. Having experience in leading teams, discipling people, and developing other leaders, the incoming pastor will readily maximize and optimize the potential and opportunities that exist within OCC.

OCC is a regional congregation located about 25 minutes northeast of Indianapolis, IN in rural Ovid/New Columbus, minutes from the cities of Pendleton and Anderson. Situated on seven acres, the facility includes a gym and softball field (both frequently used by community youth sports and outreach), an outdoor children’s play area, and a building that houses OCC’s food pantry. The facility is used multiple days each week for ministry or by community organizations.
